@nopatience that's a good message! Thanks!
The more people write, the more likely politicians are to wake up.

@leavex Although I just learned that the instance I'm pointing to is not open for all... certainly complicates things, but perhaps my message will to some extent make them think of alternatives.
But it does begs the question... who will offer them a place to go? I almost feel inclined to setup a new Mastodon instance on masto.host and at least offer them a place to go ...
@nopatience @leavex Maybe https://eupolicy.social/about would be a good place for them?
Members of the German Green Party can join https://gruene.social/about
@gunchleoc @nopatience @leavex I am right now writing to the Germans MEPs of the Green party and I will suggest this last server.
I would like to encourage the five MEPs who have left or are not on X to convince their party peers to do the same. I will mention my award:
https://leavex.eu/posts/leave-x-peer-persuasion-award/.
To the ten MEPs who are still on X, I suggest they follow their colleagues' example. :)
@nopatience note that this instance is for the EU commission. There should be a EU parliament instance open to MEPs but we never managed to find someone who could set it up (and we tried!)
@nopatience but they can also contact us at hello@joinmastodon.org if they want this to happen and know who we need to talk to at the parliament
@renchap I've been almost inclined to just set one up myself and once there's enough traction hand ownership over to someone that can run it "officially".
I've been much impressed by https://masto.host and was thinking of just forking out enough to run an instance that could "collect" the Swedish politicians, give them a home an place and limit registrations to only official addresses etc.
Just talking about it makes me ... why am I just talking, I should just do it and well... see what happens. Perhaps nothing, perhaps all the things!
@renchap Yes, I was made aware of that... but hopefully the conversation/email will trigger thoughts and requests for something to happen.
But yes... it's a challenge this whole instance selection thing. Blessing and a curse from a UX perspective.
@nopatience the problems here are more about Brussels politics, decision process and procurement. If you want an official instance by the EU parliament, similar to the commission instance.
We launched our offering https://joinmastodon.org/hosting) specifically to be able to help those big orgs with complex processes
Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but there is no official EU Mastodon for them to join. @EUCommission 's server is just for the commission, and the earlier one run by the Parliament's IT was shut down citing privacy concerns (admins see everything).
Good news: any party or institution can easily run their own with accounts restricted to members only.
